THE FIRST WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL IN AUSTRALIA WAS HELD IN GOOLWA IN 1980.

Goolwa has a rich history of the River trade and was once a thriving River Port with Paddlesteamers and fishing boats opening inland Australia. It is the gateway to the Coorong National Park with its pristine eco environment.  The Festival held biennially at the historic River Port of Goolwa is the ideal location for one of the best Wooden Boat & Music Festivals in the southern hemisphere.

Celebrating three days of
exciting festivities.

Maritime displays with a host of events on water and land. An array of themed concerts focusing on maritime music, jazz, folk, country & blues on three new music stages.

We are proud that the 2007 Festival was the first in the world to have a major First Nation component; with local Aboriginal Ngarrindjeri traditional raft making workshops and related activities.
